Yes, we have a Christmas program in December and a recital in June.
Performance is not required. However, it is highly recommended. After all, it is part of the training.
The Christmas Program will be Saturday, December 4, 2010.
The show will be held at South Middle School and will be very informal. Costuming is very basic. Students wear their class attire. We let you borrow some costume extras. The kids have a great time!
There will be a sign up sheet at the counter several weeks before the show. Please sign up as early as possible so we can have plenty of time to get costumes together. Students must maintain good attendance in order to learn techniques and the routines for the show.
Rehearsal will be Mon. and Tues. June 6 & 7, 2011. Recital will be Thurs. June 9, 2011 , 6:30 pm.
Each dance year culminates in a recital. The themed-event features beautiful costumes, professional lighting and sound, and is always a big hit! Our show will be held at the Henderson Fine Arts Center - McCormick Hall. More information will be given out in April regarding t-shirts, tickets, DVDs, pictures, rehearsals, etc.
Yes, we order costumes for the June show in January. We like to order costumes early to get them in time for any alterations that might be needed and for pictures. Costumes must be paid for by Thursday, January 6 , 2011 to get in on the bulk order. Costumes are expected to cost $55-70 for child sizes and $55-75 for adult sizes. If you miss the costume deadline, a special order can be made for an additional $20.00.
Yes, rehearsal is mandatory for performance.
No. All students, regardless of age, are expected to stay backstage during the entire show recital while parents are asked to stay in the audience.
At the Christmas program, students will sit in the audience in the student section and are asked not to leave their area to sit with family members.
Encourage your child to finish the commitment that has been made to the teacher, the other students, and the show. It is unfair to everyone to have someone drop out after the routine is finished. That changes everyone's part.
Yes, you do. One less student will affect the choreography of the routine.
While performing is part of your training, it's not the only part. Dancers should finish the year whether or not they are doing the show. Not finishing the year could affect placement for the following dance/tumbling season.
