the Dance Factory

Teachers’/ Helpers’ Dress Code:  Teachers/ helpers will wear a *plain, solid black leotard (any style) with black pants/capris or black skirt and tights (any color).  In addition, teachers/ helpers may wear a Dance Factory staff top or a solid black, close-fitting knit shirt. Jazz shoes are most comfortable when dancing back-to-back classes, however, ballet shoes may be worn.  No dangling earrings or long necklaces. Hair in a bun.

Dress Code for Students:  With the exception of students who are trying out class for the first time, all students are expected to follow the dress code.  These rules are non-negotiable.  Students without the proper attire/shoes/hairstyle, etc. may be asked to sit out for the day. Repeated occurrences may result in dismissal. For your convenience and to ensure the correct items are purchased, dancewear and shoes are available to order at The Dance Factory.

Requirements for Girls:  Solid black (*Plain - see below) TANK-style leotard (no skirt attached), Solid ballet pink (*Plain-see below) full foot tights, appropriate shoes for class(below), Hair will be worn in a bun with headband or clips holding back short pieces of hair or bangs. Hair must be fixed prior to coming into class.  Stud earrings are allowed.  No other jewelry may be worn.

Optional Items for Girls:  Solid black (*Plain - see below) ballet skirt may be worn to Creative Movement or Ballet.  Solid black (*Plain - see below) pants may be worn to Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, or tumbling.  No leggings, shorts, capris, or gauchos.

Requirements for Boys:  *Plain (see below), white t-shirt (well-fitting with no writing or decoration, tucked-in), *plain(see below) black sweatpants or dance pants (no stripes, writing), No shorts.  Hair will be worn neat and not longer than the collar.  Appropriate shoes for class(below). No jewelry.

*Plain indicates that there will be no decoration on the garment. (Decoration includes belt loops, pockets, buttons, glitter, stripes, pinched front, skinny straps, cut-outs, low cut (front or back), ties, pleats, ribbons, flowers, writing, etc.)
