the Dance Factory

Parents, please discuss the studio rules and dress code with your child so that there is complete understanding of what will be expected. 

1. When students look in the mirror, they should see a dancer looking back!  The dress code must be followed every week.  Students dressed improperly for class will be asked to sit out for the day.  We will be unable to loan shoes and dancewear this year.
2. The restroom will be used at home so class time isn’t missed and other classes aren’t interrupted.  If restroom use cannot be avoided, go during the change of classes.  Please refrain from walking thru someone else’s class.
3. Parents, bring your child to dance about 10 minutes early.  Have them ready to dance when they enter the classroom (skirt/pants on, hair already fixed, t-shirt off etc.) 
4. If waiting in the waiting room, please do so quietly.  Please do not bring food and soft drinks into the waiting room.  If reading magazines, put them up when you’re finished.  Put trash in the proper place. 
5. Students will be picked up immediately after class.
6. Students will keep hands to themselves during class and listen when the teacher speaks. 
7. Students will wait quietly for others to have a turn and be ready when their turn comes.
8. Students will be polite to other students, teachers, and the receptionist. 
9. Students will refraining from hanging on the barre, leaving the studio without asking for permission first, and will leave other students’ belongings alone.
10. Students will try their hardest at all times.  “Can’t” is a bad word at The Dance Factory!
11. Parents and students: Please read notes from the teacher carefully and check your email and the message board regularly.  Keep your handbook. 
12. Students will practice at home!  Parents, please encourage this!
13. Dance shoes are meant to be worn inside.  Wearing them outside causes them to wear out faster and tracks dirt into the studio.
14. Parents, please ask the receptionist to get a child from class.  Please do not open the studio door during class.
15. Each child must progress at his/her own rate.  Trust the teacher’s judgment regarding class content and placement.  Many years of experience and training are behind his/her decisions!
